Powering the People Side with DISC

The foundations of DISC behavioural assessments to power your people with the tools they need for ongoing success.

DISC’s primary purpose is developing self-awareness and providing a framework to understand, then build effective relationships with others.

Team8 DISC profiles have been developed specifically for business, industry, and education.

Each assessment includes a 12-minute online survey and results in a personalised DISC Profile Report (with summaries for easy use). It details the individual’s personal style, strengths, limiting behaviours, communication preferences, and the environment they perform best in.

Why is this important? Because in life, what differentiates people who are successful is never just technical ability. Instead, it is well developed mental, emotional, and relationship skills that make the difference. Importantly, DISC is a behavioural profile, we’re not asking people to change their personality or who they are. We’re asking people to adapt what they do to achieve the best outcome.

“To change ourselves effectively, we first had to change our perceptions.” Stephen R. Covey,

DISC Profiling provides practical strategies to improve performance through:

  • Developing self-awareness,
  • Effective communication,
  • More productive relationships,
  • Tailoring development, and
  • Identifying how each person contributes their best.

Its application ranges from improving professional effectiveness and interpersonal relationships, to leadership development, recruitment, and professional development plans.

Be strategic. Free up your valuable time from the stress of ‘people issues’.

5 Things You Need To Know About DISC

  1. DISC focuses on behaviour, how someone prefers to act and what they do, rather than personality traits. Behaviour is flexible, and we can ask an individual to adjust what they do to get a different result, and ultimately achieve the best outcome for a given situation.
  2. At its core, DISC is a simple four-quadrant model. This is critical as it allows people to quickly understand, remember, and use. Yet, you can also delve much deeper into its theory and application to truly master this area of expertise. (Personality tests, such as MBTI, are psychometric assessments and are more complex, requiring extensive training to administer and work with.)
  3. There is no right or wrong, best or worst DISC Profile. Your aim is never to ‘improve’ your DISC Profile.  Instead, the focus is on developing self-awareness, knowing what works for you and what doesn’t, and ultimately increasing the choices of behaviour to what is most effective to the situation and those you work with. This is key to high-performance and leadership in any endeavour.
  4. DISC was first developed in the 1920s and because it was never copyrighted, it has been continually developed, extended, and improved on since. As a result, DISC is the most valid and reliable tool available.
