Brief History
Team8 People and team8people.com is the unified brand of related companies Athlete Assessments & Team8 People which merged on July 1, 2026.
Since the early 2000s, Athlete Assessments (www.athleteassessments.com) and Team8 People (www.team8.com.au) have operated as separate legal entities, delivering similar services to clients in different industries and across different geographical markets, yet have shared a strong common purpose: a focus on ‘performance through people’. Athlete Assessments has grown into a global leader in the sports industry, while Team8 People has built a broad footprint across Australasia from mining, construction, and education to banking and retail.
Over time, the two companies have progressed through aligned shareholders and a shared mission. On 1 July 2026, they merged into a single, consolidated entity. All services will continue to be delivered under Team8 People.
About the Merger
The two companies merged on 1 July, 2026. In joining forces, we continue to deliver exceptional services to our clients, providing even greater combined access to expertise, assessments, resources, and global reach. Under the united brand of Team8 People, clients benefit from access to a wider range of products, streamlined service delivery, and increased innovation resulting from our combined resources and talent.
Founder of both companies, Bo Hanson said “The ultimate reason both former companies exist is in the shared purpose to enhance the experience of people in their respective environments, be it sport (Athlete Assessments) or the business world (Team8 People). People are people, and as such we believe people have a need to enjoy positive experiences in their sporting and business lives. When this works well, better performances are achieved, and are celebrated together.”
Dr. Liz Masen, who has been the CEO of Athlete Assessments, will perform this role in the merged Team8 People structure. She shared, “It was the ideal timing, especially from a client perspective. This merger primarily reflects the growth of our clients who work across multiple industries and have an expanded need for specialised assessments. Bringing the two companies together ensures we can deliver a more consistent, efficient, and tailored service to these clients. Plus, unlike many other mergers where you see job losses, we are in fact hiring. Through being aligned and deeply invested, we will have a greater impact for our clients across the numerous industries we can deliver expertise in. Our goal is to enhance the experience and performance of people, through people.”
Bringing Together Our Combined Offering
Following the merger, Team8 People offers a specialized suite of products and services spanning sport, business, education, and tactical environments under one banner and system. This includes our full range of DISC Behavioural Profiles: the AthleteDISC (for athletes and players), CoachDISC (for coaches), and Sports ManagerDISC (for sport administrators and support staff) for use in sport; the Team8 DISC for business and leadership; the TeacherDISC (for teachers and educators); and the TacticalDISC (for emergency services and defence). The new Emotional Intelligence 360 alongside our established Leadership 360 Reviews (for business and sport contexts) are also united and available through the one brand.
Complementing these assessments are our broader suite of services, including DISC Accreditation across our suite of assessments, with tailored training to suit intended use and application; Academic Programs for university students, teachers, and school administration and leaders; and professional development programs supporting team, coach, and leadership development tailored for various industries. The combined offering means clients, regardless of sector, can draw on a consistent methodology, a deeper bench of expertise, and a more comprehensive set of tools to enhance the experience and performance of their people.
What is Different and What is the Same
For the most part, the merger is behind the scenes and for Team8 People clients it will feel business as usual with the additional benefits of the larger group providing more access to resources, assessments, and network of highly skilled consultants who also cross over between business and sport. For Athlete Assessments clients it will be predominantly a change in name and also more access to resources and assessments.
All clients continue to be looked after by the existing contacts, and overtime will benefit from the expansion. All the current communication channels remain through the transition, so clients can rely on the same emails, phone numbers etc. Over time, we are transitioning to @team8people.com emails and one set of phone numbers, but this is being carefully staged and communicated.
All assessments that are currently on offer continue and at an appropriate time will be merged into one combined platform. All management and staff remain in place, and new team members are being hired.
